From 3.5 Inches to Zero: Timelapse Shows Snow Melting in Cedar Rapids

After a late-season snowstorm on the evening of April 16 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a blast of spring weather rapidly melted snowfall on April 17. The snowstorm on April 16 brought heavy wet snow to Cedar Rapids, with a total of 3.6 inches accumulating. After the spring warm-up on Friday, the National Weather Service covering the area tweeted satellite imagery, writing: “Snow (seen in red) is already starting to melt across Iowa. It won’t be long till it is ALL gone.” Timelapse footage from Mike Graber showed the rapid snow melt, showing snow levels going from 3.5 inches to none. Credit: Mike Graber via Storyful
