California reimposes restrictions following coronavirus spike

California Governor Gavin Newsom has ordered indoor restaurants, movie theatres and museums across 19 counties close their doors as the state experiences a resurgence in coronavirus cases. New restrictions were also enforced with 72 per cent of the state ordered back into lockdown. Los Angeles Country recorded more than 100,000 cases of the virus. California was the second most affected state in the last 24-hour period – after Texas – as 37 US states saw a spike in infections. UCSF Department of Medicine Chair Dr Robert Wachter said he believed the spikes were “less about governance and more about human nature.” Image: AP
