Spain becomes third country to investigate Novak Djokovic over border entry

Novak Djokovic is under investigation by the Spanish government following revelations the Serbian tennis champion entered the country without a vaccination exemption or certificate in late December. Mr Djokovic is required by law as an unvaccinated Serbian national to request a special visa to enter Spain. This is now the third country the tennis champion has gotten into hot water with as he attempts to play the Australian Open amid inconsistencies surrounding his visa. His former coach Lars Kis said Mr Djokovic not declaring his trip to Spain on his immigration form into Australia was an "honest mistake". Mr Djokovic stated on his Australian travel declaration he had not travelled to any other country in the 14 days prior to his arrival on January 6. Immigration Minister Alex Hawke has hinted he could give a decision on whether to cancel the tennis star's visa today.
