Voting has begun in the referendums in Russian-held regions in Ukraine's south. People were urged to cast their vote on whether to join Russia as ballot boxes were taken around houses and into hospitals in four Russian-controlled Ukrainian regions. In some towns, according to Ukrainian media, residents turned out to protest.
