‘No-deal’ Brexit increasingly likely: EU officials

The European Union now believes the chance of a 'no-deal' Brexit has increased after British MPs voted to send Prime Minister Theresa May back to Brussels to renegotiate her Brexit deal. Some of the EUs most powerful officials say they will not renegotiate the deal Ms May brokered last year, which was overwhelmingly rejected by MPs in a recent vote. The Prime Minister enjoyed a rare success in the House of Commons on Wednesday morning after MPs gave their support for her withdrawal agreement, on the condition the Northern Ireland backstop be replaced with 'alternative arrangements'. Both European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker and EU chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier say the UK's current deal is the 'best and only' agreement possible.
