Sky Political Editor David Speers says a factional deal is behind Kristina Keneally's elevation to the shadow crossbench. Under Labor's system, the factions select who will be able to sit on the crossbench, while the leader allocates portfolios. Ms Keneally, who belongs to the NSW right faction, was poised to miss out on a shadow portfolio. This was allayed after fellow right faction member Ed Husic stepped away from the shadow ministry, opening a spot for Senator Keneally. Mr Speers says Anthony Albanese 'has to live with' the factions 'calling the shots' over the frontbench.
