Health authorities are urging Australians to get the flu shot after revealing at least 25 people had already died from the viral infection in Queensland this year. In 2018, influenza claimed the lives of 43 Queenslanders, a number the government department warns could be surpassed if people keep avoiding the preventative injection. Of the more than 10,000 flu cases reported in the state, some 800 have been hospitalised with 73 admitted to intensive care.
