A thunderstorm swept across New York producing heavy rain, strong winds and lightning that disrupted flights and triggered tornado warnings from the National Weather Service. Both Newark Liberty Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport said flights were disrupted as a result of the storm, with passengers reporting delays and cancellations. The National Weather Service issued a number of tornado warnings for the area around Staten Island. This video and the images show lightning flashing across the sky above New York City as the storm moves through the area. Credit: Emily Jennings via Storyful
