Australia will join a U.S. coalition of maritime patrols in the Strait of Hormuz to help protect oil shipments against Iranian interference. Prime Minister Scott Morrison made the announcement on Wednesday, revealing his government was concerned about security in the region, where Iran has been obstructing international shipping. “This destabilising behaviour is a threat to Australian interests in the region, particularly our enduring interests in the security of global sea lanes,” he said. Mr Morrison said troops would be deployed in January. Image: Getty
