Morrison ‘left a void’ for Albanese to come in

The Australian Financial Review’s John Kehoe says Prime Minister Scott Morrison should have been “more transparent and open” about his holiday to Hawaii. Mr Morrison has been criticised for taking a holiday this week, while fires rage and hazardous smoke envelops parts of New South Wales. “The guy’s entitled to a break, but at the same time the optics and the politics of it has left a void for Anthony Albanese to come in serving breakfast to fire fighters as well,” Mr Kehoe told Sky News. Mr Kehoe said the prime minister’s office was “on the back foot” as it was not clear who was in charge in Mr Morrison’s absence. The prime minister has now cancelled his leave and will return home for the bushfire crisis after two NSW Rural Fire Service crew members were killed. Image: News Corp Australia
