The Philippine province of Samar was hit by Typhoon Kammuri – locally dubbed Tisoy – on Monday, December 2, bringing with it heavy rainfall and severe winds. According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the storm carried maximum sustained winds of 155 km/h near the center, with gusts of up to 190 km/h. This footage shows the typhoon hitting a beach at Potong in the northeast of Samar, one of several regions that bore the brunt of the storm. Some 200,000 people were reportedly evacuated from coastal areas to avoid the fallout from possible floods and landslides in affected provinces. Credit: Engr. Raul Quinao via Storyful
