US President Donald Trump has described the two articles of impeachment - passed by Congress on Thursday - as a "phoney". "It doesn't feel like impeachment... It's a phony deal and they cheapen the word," President Trump said. The Republicans expressed their frustrations toward the Democrats who urgently sought to impeach the president but were now hesitant to hand over the articles of impeachment to begin the Senate trial. Democrats claimed they were seeking to avoid a 'kangaroo court' with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer declaring Senate Republicans were "plotting" the most "rushed, least thorough and most unfair trial" in history.
