Coronavirus eradication in Australia ‘ambitious’

Chief Nursing Officer Alison McMillan says it’s “ambitious” to suggest Australia can eradicate coronavirus. Australia has been persuing a supression strategy to curb the spread of the virus, but modelling released on Thursday revealed a by-product of that approach could see COVID-19 eradicated on the mainland. But the nation’s top nursing officer told Sky News there was always the possibiity of the virus rentering the nation. "I think it’s ambitious to suggest we can eradicate it. It’s a pandemic around the world, so we will always have the potential to reintroduce it if we were to reopen our borders,” she said. Image: AP
