Hundreds of people lined up in commercial districts of Mexico City on July 8, the first day shopping centers were reopened to the public after a three-month coronavirus-induced shutdown. This footage was taken outside the Parque Delta shopping center, located in the district of Cuahtemoc. Parque Delta, like other malls in the Mexican capital, will only be allowed to operate at 30 percent capacity, and has to implement virus control measures, including mandatory mask usage. According to reports, the number of positive coronavirus cases has risen dramatically since the country began what is being called a “new normal” phase of reopening on June 1. As of July 8, Mexico had recorded over 87,000 cases and documented at least 1,694 deaths tied to the virus. Credit: Itzel Cruz Alanis via Storyful
