COVID booster rollout brought forward

An extra 3.75 million Australians will become eligible for their COVID booster today as the rollout is brought forward. People can now receive their booster four months after their second dose – it had previously been five months and before that six. The changes are based on advice from ATAGI aiming to offer increasing protection against Omicron. The TGA is recommending the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine even if they received AstraZeneca for their two doses. Booster eligibility will be brought forward again at the end of the month with the wait time shortening to three months.
