Novak Djokovic says he was told by the Department of Home Affairs he met the requirements for quarantine-free entry into Australia. Court documents have revealed the world number one received correspondence on January 1 that his travel declaration had been assessed and he met the requirements for quarantine-free travel into the country. He was granted a visa on November 18 and received a medical exemption certificate based on evidence he had tested positive to COVID on December 16. The documents also claim his visa was not dependent on his vaccination status. Victorian guidelines say a COVID-19 infection within the last 6 months is a relevant form of exemption – however letters reportedly sent to Tennis Australia from the federal government said this wouldn't meet the national standard.
