Elephant and Other National Zoo Residents Enjoy DC Snowstorm

Animals at Smithsonian’s National Zoo were seen reacting to winter weather on January 3 as a storm dropped over a foot of snow in parts of the Washington, DC, area. The storm led to widespread power outages and trapped numbers of motorists overnight on Interstate 95 in Virginia. This footage shows a number of animals in the snow at the National Zoo, including two sloth bears, an American bison, and an Asian elephant, and a cheetah family at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute in Front Royal, Virginia.
