Liz Truss has been sworn in by the Queen after travelling to Scotland, making her Britain's 56th Prime Minister. Her Majesty also met the Prime Minister's predecessor Boris Johnson to accept his resignation. In his outgoing speech to the nation, Mr Johnson voiced his support for his successor while outlining his intentions for the future. “I am now like one of those booster rockets that has fulfilled its function, and I will now be gently re-entering the atmosphere and splashing down invisibly in some remote and obscure corner of the Pacific,” Mr Johnson said.
