‘Conversation’ with China about climate change needs to get ‘back on track’

Environment and Water Minister Tanya Plibersek says we need to work in a way that brings “very large emitters” such as China “into the tent”. This comes as US President Joe Biden has locked in a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping as Prime Minister Anthony Albanese hopes to also meet with the Chinese President. “If China and the US can have constructive talks about climate change, that’s good for everybody,” Ms Plibersek told Sky News Australia. “In the past, even when there has been at various times, different issues where the US and China have disagreed, they have managed to keep a conversation going about climate change and if we can get that back on track, that’s great.”
