July 23, 2018. NSW Opposition leader Luke Foley, in Sydney, responds to a report a female corrections officer had a sexual relationship with inmate Sione Penisini, who was jailed for 36 years for the murder of Constable Glenn McEnallay in 2002. Mr Foley asks “how the hell did this happen?” and says Minister for Corrections David Elliott “seems more concerned with Liberal Party shenanigans and game-playing than actually running our jails”. It is the second incident involving a relationship between prison guards and inmates recently and Mr Foley says “well, the Minister’s got to get to the bottom of this. He has to get back to his day job. You just cannot tolerate prison officers in relationships with prisoners. No way. It has to end”. (AAP Video/Carol Cho)
