Palestinian Activist Ahed Tamimi Released From Israeli Prison

Israeli authorities released the Palestinian activist Ahed Tamimi and her mother on July 29. The pair had spent about eight months in prison, according to Haaretz. They arrived in their home town, Nabi Saleh, in Ramallah, later that day Palestinian reports said. Footage released by, al-Hadath, a Palestinian news outlet, shows Ahed and her mother. “I am happy to see my family but my happiness is incomplete because my sister prisoners are not with me and I hope they will be freed,” Tamimi says in the video. Tamimi, 17, a member of a prominent activist family, was imprisoned in December, 2017, for kicking and slapping an Israeli soldier. A video of the incident went viral, giving her icon status for Palestinians, according to international reports. Credit: Al-Hadath via Storyful
