CEO of the Electric Vehicle Council Behyad Jafari has dismissed the Coalition’s claim that Labor is planning to create a new tax to make homes and apartments electric vehicle charger-ready. As part of its policy for all new car sales to be electric by 2030, Labor is planning to work with state and local governments to develop electric vehicle charging stations in new residential buildings if elected next month. Energy Minister Angus Taylor has slammed the initiative, claiming government modeling shows it could cost ‘billions’ for new residential properties to install the technology. Mr Jafari has told Sky News the government’s figures don't reflect industry modeling, saying that not installing the new technology now will have ‘significant costs’ down the line.
