Mother remanded in custody over ‘stabbing attack of Byron Bay teacher’

A New South Wales mother who allegedly stabbed a 28-year-old Byron Bay teacher has faced court. The 31-year-old woman was denied bail when she fronted court in Tweed Heads on Wednesday on two charges including grievous bodily harm. The woman allegedly attacked the male teacher with scissors at Byron Bay Public School on Tuesday morning, badly injuring his face and arm and sending the school into lockdown. The judge described the attack as 'targeted and premeditated' and said the victim was ‘lucky to be alive’. The alleged attacker has been remanded in custody, due to front court again in June.
