New South Wales Labor Senator Kristina Keneally says Scott Morrison is setting a new standard for those running for office by declaring a person is unfit to be a candidate if they make offensive comments, no matter how long ago or if they’ve apologised. The Prime Minister called for Bill Shorten to remove Luke Creasey as a Labor candidate after social media posts, which included rape jokes and offensive remarks about women, emerged. Mr Creasey withdrew his candidacy on Friday. The Senator points to Liberal MP John Alexander, who faced scrutiny in the Bennelong bi-election when footage of him telling racist jokes emerged. Ms Keneally says according to the PM’s new standard, he should now ask Mr Alexander to step down. Image: News Corp Australia
