Emergency services battled a fire at the Fort Loudon Waste and Recycling center in North Knoxville, Tennessee, on May 1. Nearby residents were evacuated from their homes as toxic smoke blanketed the area, local media reported. The Knoxville Fire Department urged locals to leave the area or stay inside their homes with windows and doors shut so as not to breathe in toxic fumes from burning plastic. Authorities continued to work on extinguishing the blaze. Credit: @KnoxvilleFire via Storyful
