Conversion to electric vehicles is an inevitable future that ‘requires a national response,’ the CEO of infrastructure Australia says. Romilly Madew has told Sky News that ‘jurisdictions need to be looking at their planning, reform and development applications to really unlock the potential of putting more charging stations across Australia'. The nation currently has 800 electric vehicle charging stations, she says, compared to more than 6,000 petrol stations. Ms Madew says projects costing more than $100 million, which seek federal government funding, should undertake a business case and a transparent post-completion review of each project’s effectiveness.
