GoFundMe has shut down Israel Folau’s campaign and will be refunding all donors. The former Wallabies player created the page in the hopes he would raise $3 million to fund his legal battle against Rugby Australia. Mr Folau was sacked after he refused to delete a controversial social media post in which he said all homosexuals were destined for Hell, a post which Rugby Australia found breached the terms of his contract. GoFundMe announced its decision on Monday, saying ‘as a company we are absolutely committed to the fight for equality for LGBTIQ+ people and fostering an environment of inclusivity’. 'While we welcome GoFundMes engaging in diverse civil debate, we do not tolerate the promotion of discrimination or exclusion,' the statement says. Folau believes his termination by Rugby Australia was unlawful and has vowed to test the claim with the Fair Work Commission. Image: News Corp Australia
