Shell Australia CEO Zoe Yujnovich has warned that there could be 'unintended consequences' if the government intervenes in the domestic gas market. The comments come as the Coalition faces pressure to reduce domestic gas prices by the senate crossbench, with Finance Minister Mathias Cormann sitting down with Centre Alliance's Rex Fitzpatrick this week to discuss short-and-long term plans to reduce prices. Mr Fiztpatrick is one of the key votes the government needs to pass its complete tax plan through parliament. On Sunday, government frontbencher Michael Sukkar indicated the Coalition is willing to intervene in the market, telling Sky News he is 'determined' to whatever it takes to lower prices. However, Ms Yujnovich says there has 'rarely been a circumstance' where government intervention has benefited consumers in the long run. She sat down with Sky News to give her take on the East Coast Gas Crisis and her concerns about some opportunistic gaming of the political situation by a few manufacturers.
