Global markets have made a partial recovery after significant losses created by the COVID-19 pandemic disrupting all sectors. Investors said a more coordinated monetary and fiscal stimulus approach could soften the economic impact. Wall Street's opening saw the Dow Jones Industrial Average rise more than 5% as the US treasury secretary pledged financial help to affected industries. It came after the Italian FTSEMIB benchmark index plunged by an unprecedented 17% on Thursday. London's FTSE 100 index ended the week down nearly A$545 billion after suffering its biggest single-day fall since 1987. The leading UK index surged more than 7% during the day, in volatile trading, as investors responded positively to measures being taken by a growing number of governments and central banks to tackle the coronavirus.
