The mayor of Queenstown, New Zealand, celebrated the nation’s easing of COVID-19 lockdown restrictions with a bungee jump as businesses were permitted to reopen across the country. “It’s wonderful to see so many businesses in our area opening back up. Though these are tough times for all businesses across the district, we’re embracing Alert Level 2 and the cautious reopening that it is allowing,” the mayor said according to a Facebook post by Queenstown Council. New Zealand moved to ‘Stage 2’ of COVID-19 restrictions at 11:59 pm on Wednesday May 13, which allowed for all businesses to reopen if they could do so safely and also gave the green light for regional travel.
