Record job losses have painted a devastating picture of the pain caused by the coronavirus shutdowns. The national cabinet will today be briefed by the head of treasury, the RBA governor and the head of APRA after sobering unemployment figures revealed 600,000 Australians lost their job in the month of April alone. About half of the Australian workforce was revealed to be receiving some sort of government support to keep them afloat during the crisis. The national cabinet will meet today to work out how to get Australians back to work following the coronavirus crisis.
