The majority of New Zealand businesses will be able to reopen from today as the country moved out of alert level three overnight. Shopping centres, gyms, cafes and pubs that serve meals are among many businesses allowed to resume operations after many were forced to close throughout the nation’s strict seven-week lockdown. Domestic tourism is also permitted under alert level two restrictions which would provide some relief for areas such as Queenstown, whose economy relies heavily on tourism. Figures for this year’s budget are also set to be revealed on Thursday, with the prime minister placing the focus on jobs. Image: AP
