The Australian's Cameron Stewart says despite the world "being turned upside down", the upcoming US presidential election will be a "close one" after a CNN poll revealed Democrat Joe Biden had a "modest" five-point lead over President Trump. Mr Stewart said CNN's poll was "quite encouraging for Donald Trump" as he continues to incur widespread criticism by US mainstream media outlets for his alleged handling of the crisis. "Trump, of course, has been quite criticised for his response to the pandemic - but interestingly what we're seeing in America is what we've seen over the past three years," Mr Stewart said. "Republicans are closing ranks behind the president, Democrats are attacking him and so you've got Biden holding this lead, but a five-point one is absolutely not a significant one at this point in time."
