Melbourne shrine fence ‘insults veterans’

Victorian veterans have described the decision to build a two metre fence around Melbourne’s Shrine of Remembrance as an insult to all who served and died. The fence is in place to ensure only 1,400 ticketholders can attend the Anzac Day dawn service with each ticket will be scanned on entry and those without tickets will have to watch the service from 30 metres back. Victoria’s state opposition said the fence compound at the shrine is in direct contrast to the 85,000 spectators allowed at the MCG to watch the football.
