Protestors have taken to the streets of downtown Minneapolis to celebrate after former police officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty of all three charges brought against him over the death of George Floyd last year. Sky News Washington Correspondent Annelise Nielson said it was a “hugely historic” day for the United States with the jury’s guilty verdict following almost a year of protests, riots and looting. Mr Chauvin will be sentenced in eight weeks and while there is potential for an appeal, political commentary surrounding the trial – which was acknowledged by the judge – has led to speculation calls for a mistrial could be likely.
