Crews worked to contain the damage from a massive oil spill off the Orange County coast in California on Sunday, October 3, as officials warned of a potential ecological disaster. The 126,000 gallon spill, which was reported to have been caused by a broken pipeline, prompted a multi-agency response after it was reported on Saturday morning three miles from the Newport Beach coast. The oil spread to the Talbert Marsh, a 25-acre ecological reserve, officials said. “The spill has significantly affected Huntington Beach, with substantial ecological impacts occurring at the beach and the Huntington Beach Wetlands,” according to city officials. This footage was streamed live to Facebook by Louis Moncivias, who said it was captured in Bolsa Chica State Beach, which is located in Huntington Beach, California.
