Queensland vaccination rates lagging in the regions

Regions in Queensland with lagging vaccination rates could be locked down if case numbers increase once state borders are reopened. Queensland is set to reopen to New South Wales and Victoria on December 17 – but modelling shows the state isn't on track to hit the 80 per cent double dose target. As a result – snap restrictions could be imposed if there are outbreaks in areas with low vaccine uptake over the Christmas holiday period . The state's deputy chief health officer is warning those in the regions not to get complacent about the threats of COVID.
