South Dakota’s Governor’s Buffalo Roundup Draws Large Crowds

The 56th Governor’s Buffalo Roundup in South Dakota drew large crowds on September 24, with organizers saying record numbers attended the event. Organizers said 22,452 visitors spent the morning on the prairie to watch as approximately 1,300 bison were brought in for their annual health check. The previous attendance record was set in 2015, when 22,078 visitors attended. Local media reported that 60 horseback riders, including Gov Kristi Noem, wrangled the bison.
