The United States Geological Survey (USGS) released new footage of what it said was a lava lake in the Kilauea volcano’s Halema’uma’u crater on Thursday, September 30. The Kilauea volcano on Hawaii’s Big Island began erupting anew on Wednesday, according to the USGS. An official update on Friday said all lava activity remained confined within Halemaʻumaʻu but seismicity and volcanic gas emission rates remained elevated.
