Authorities have issued health warnings for Australia's young, elderly and vulnerable as temperatures soar into the New Year. The Bureau of Meteorology says parts of the country are experiencing temperatures 10C to 14C higher than average for this time of year. The heatwave is likely to peak on New Years Eve before a wind change predicted to bring some relief on New Years Day.
