Members of the Indian National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) assisted residents in the east-coast state of Odisha as Cyclone Fani hit the region. The cyclone, which authorities said brought wind speeds of up to 180 km/h, left a trail of damage, uprooting trees, and destroying properties. Earlier, thousands of people were evacuated from the state before the cyclone made landfall. This video, shared to Twitter by the director of the NDRF, Satya Narayan Pradhan, shows NDRF members briefing residents in the community of Pattamundai while other photos show personnel door-knocking and conducting evacuations as well as assisting with clean-up operations. Cyclone Fani was expected to make its way toward West Bengal where it would hit as a severe cyclonic storm, before moving to Bangladesh, the National Disaster Management Authority said.
