Australia is facing the prospect of a slow decline unless it seizes on the opportunities posed by technological change and a rising Asia, according to the CSIRO. Last week, the CSIRO, along with 50 other organisations, produced the Australian National Outlook 2019. The report predominately examines two scenarios: one, where Australia fails to grapple with the rise of Asia, technological change and eroding social trust, and another where Australia seizes on its unique position in the world to thrive well into the next century. Mr Healy told Sky News that if Australia is willing to utilise its natural strengths, we can ‘can double wages, halve electricity costs and grow GDP by 30 per cent.’ The CSIRO boss sat down with NAB's Chief Customer Officer, Anthony Healy and Sky News Business Editor Ticky Fullerton to discuss the report’s ramifications.
