The Minister for Water Resources David Littleproud speaks to reporters in Canberra announcing the federal government is appointing an Inspector-General to oversee the governance of the Murray-Darling basin. "This will be a statutory position, one that will report to me and the Murray Darling state ministers," Mr Littleproud says. "It will be holding to account the Murray-Darling basin authority, the commonwealth government and state governments," he states. "He or she will have the power to compel evidence".
