Breast cancer rates rise in Australia

The National Breast Cancer Foundation has revealed more Australian women are being diagnosed with breast cancer each year. The foundation said breast cancer rates steadily increased over the past 20 years, with one in seven women now diagnosed each year. Researchers believe several things are attributed to the increase including an ageing population, a range of health and lifestyle factors and better detection. The foundation also found an estimated 30,000 women would die by 2030 without better research investment. Image: Getty
