The drought crisis is becoming so extreme in parts of Queensland, some farmers are reportedly turning to crime. Over the past six months, some residents in drought-affected areas have stolen up to tens of thousands of litres of water. In Queensland, 65 per cent of the state is drought declared, 32 per cent of government areas are fully drought declared and four per cent are partially drought declared. Acting Inspector Gerard Brady said many of the water thefts that have taken place have been carried out by residents who have never committed a crime before. Image: News Corp Australia
