September 3, 2019. Shadow treasurer Jim Chalmers speaking to media in Sydney about proposed new laws to lock up pedophiles for longer periods. Chalmers says he is not focused on these issues, as it is not his portfolio, but the government is using the bill to shift focus from a struggling economy. "All of these other issues from the government are a distraction from their failures on the economy.
