Tamil family’s legal case delayed until Friday

The legal case of a Tamil asylum-seeking family fighting to stay in Australia has been delayed until Friday. The injunction - blocking the Immigration Minister from deporting the Sri Lankan couple's two-year-old Australian-born daughter - has also been extended until 4pm Friday. With all legal avenues for Priya, Nades and their eldest daughter exhausted, the family is awaiting the outcome from Christmas Island. The last-ditch legal bid rests on the youngest daughter, with lawyers arguing her claim had not been considered by the Immigration Minister. The case hit a road block on Tuesday night when the family's lawyers were told the toddler's protection visa claim had since been assessed and the minister decided not to intervene.
