Parts of fire-ravaged south-east Queensland are bracing for what could be a challenging Friday afternoon as weather conditions worsen. Wildlife rescuers and volunteers will attempt to enter the fire zone to rescue animals on Friday, but are expecting thousands of casualties. A firestorm ripped through the area on Monday, giving thousands of residents just minutes to leave their homes. As about 70 fires burn across the state, weather conditions are predicted to worsen with temperatures climbing past 30 degrees and winds picking up on Friday. Image: News Corp Australia
