The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 has surged in the past 24 hours to over 1,200 as the government warns it will take "draconian measures" to stop the spread of the disease. New South Wales has now recorded in excess of 500 cases of coronavirus, with 97 new cases confirmed in the 24 hours to 8:00pm on Saturday. Authorities urge people who attended the Boogie Wonderland party at the Bucket List bar in Bondi should be alert for symptoms of the disease. A further 67 cases were confirmed in Victoria - bringing the statewide total to 296 There are 10 new cases of coronavirus in the ACT, bringing the total number of cases to 19, while 38 news cases have been detected in Queensland bringing the state's total to 259. So far, over 90 people have tested positive to COVID-19 in Western Australia while South Australia is closing its borders to domestic travel with the total number of cases in the state standing at 67.
