Finance Minister Mathias Cormann says the government will "not be pursuing a cash splash in reckless Rudd-Gillard fashion" with the proposed stimulus package. Mr Cormann said the package would place Australia in a strong position to "maximise the strength of recovery" on the other side of the "challenging period we're about to enter into". "The purpose is to ensure we can keep businesses in business and Australians in jobs," he said. The Prime Minister confirmed the stimulus would be rolled out before the May budget to ease the economic impact of the coronavirus and bushfires. Image: News Corp Australia
